West club commitee

The rugby club at West would be nothing without its army of dedicated volunteers. The club's committee oversees all action at West and currently sits at around 15 members. There are a multitude of subcommittees from grounds work to socials, which all helps the club run smoothly.

leadership Team

Detailed below is our leadership team and contact details. Should you wish to volunteer at West or feel you have skills that would be of benefit to — please get in touch, we are always looking for extra helping hands!

West is actively seeking an accountant and finance minded individual to help with the running of club accounts and the charity side of the organisation

Thank you to all the club volunteers, from parents, coaches, referees, players, committee members and everything in between. The club would not run successfully without everyone’s tireless work. The passion of our volunteers only demonstrates what a wonderful community environment we have at Burnbrae.

Amber johnston
Club co-vice president senior rugby & membership Secretary

Amber joined the West community in 2021, a recruit of a come and try session and successful convert from football. She got involved in the committee in 2023 with a passion for increasing the presence of the women’s team in the club. She continues to be passionate about the development of women and girls rugby at West. She took on the membership secretary role in 2025 and the vice president role in 2026.

Amber continues to don boots on a Sunday, playing fullback for the 1st XV. Despite saying every year that this is her last season, she has a few good playing years left in the tank!

Gavin moran
Club vice president of junior rugby

Gavin became Vice President for Youth Rugby in 2025, having been part of the West rugby community since 2018. He first joined as a parent helper before progressing to coaching and taking on the role of Team Manager for the U16 squad.

In 2023, Gavin added refereeing to his rugby CV, taking up the whistle and qualifying as a match official with the West of Scotland Rugby Referees Society. He now regularly referees both senior and youth matches, giving him a perspective across all levels of the game.

Like many West volunteers, Gavin’s involvement has grown year on year. When he’s not coaching, managing or refereeing, he can usually be found at Thursday night “Old Man” (over-35s) touch — with the occasional appearance on the veterans rugby pitch when his body allows it!
