Our season runs from mid-August to mid-May and players join for the season. We don't run "sets of lessons" in the way that tennis, swimming or skiing do as we want players to become part of a club rather than just learning individual skills. Rugby is a team sport and the majority of what players learn is about how to be part of a team and how to work with others.
We welcome players of all levels, shapes and sizes....there is a place in rugby for everyone. Registration for junior players is through our electronic membership form - scroll down to the bottom of this page to find it (preferably reading all the exciting stuff in between!)
The form MUST be completed for all players before coming to training for insurance purposes.
Please only press submit once as otherwise you will register multiple times
The Junior subscriptions for 2013/14 once again include a Junior levy of GBP50 per player to cover the hire of indoor training / artificial pitches for winter training, equipment & match food.

West of Scotland Junior Section provides boys and girls from the age of four to sixteen with high quality rugby coaching and a top class learning environment. The various age groups are structured as follows:
Primary One and Two: fun training, getting used to the rugby ball and working with other people.
Primary Three: introduction to light contact and game play. Starting to learn about being in a team
Primary Four - Seven: tournaments against other clubs and friendly matches. Teamwork becomes key in addition to game skills
S1/S2: development of player skills and full pitch matches. Tactical awareness and an understanding of the game
Under 15 - 16: enter local leagues and play in National Cup Competitions. Preparation for senior rugby
All West coaches are qualified and regularly attend courses run by the SRU to inform them how best to improve player development and performance. Refresher courses are attended annually by coaches to ensure they are fully up to speed with all relevant changes to the laws of the game and current coaching methodology.
If you wish to get in touch with us our Age Group Coaches' Contact details can be found here

The majority of fixtures for Primary Three to Secondary Two are friendly matches, but festivals and tournaments are held on a regular basis both at Burnbrae and at a wide range of clubs across the country which provide players with important competitive game experience.
When players reach the Under 15 age group they have the opportunity to enter regional leagues and play competitively against other teams. Success at a local level can mean entry to the Scottish Cup giving players the chance to compete against the best teams in the country. Matches in the National Cup are of a high standard and teams from West have been very competitive in these competitions in recent years.
Players at West work their way from the Mini section, through the S1s and S2s to the U15s and U16s, all of whom train and play on Sundays. U18 or Colts rugby is played on a Saturday.
West's Junior section has been established as one of the best in Scotland for many years and we have a number of players with 1st team honours who have played all the way through the junior section. We currently have more than 200 Junior players and in excess of 40 qualified coaches.
Robert Harley , who has become a key part of Glasgow Warriors set up, developed his rugby through playing in the West junior ranks. In addition, a number of recent and current West 1st XV players have played through our Junior Section as well as others who have joined a range of Premiership teams.
These guys demonstrate what can be done by committed and talented players and rugby offers huge potential for players of all ages and abilities. Whether an experienced player or entirely new to the game, West offers something for all Juniors.
