New minis season starts Sunday 15th August!

The new Minis season will start with registration and training, from 10:30 -12 on Sunday 15th August @ our Burnbrae ground.

Pre season training starting

Training for season 2010/11 commences on Monday 5th July at 6.45pm.  Training will be on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Any new players wishing to join should come along to a training session and will be made most welcome.

West’s Under 17 Team build Community Hall in Malawi!

For ten days the Under 17 team travelled from their Blantyre lodge to the rural village of Chapotera to build a community hall.

New Head Coach appointed

CoachesWe are pleased to announce that Keith Robertson has joined the coaching team at West and has been appointed Head Coach with George Breckenridge remaining with us as Assistant Coach.  Keith has been Head Coach at Hillhead/Jordanhill where he has taken them as P3 champions to P2 next season.
Keith comes to West with impressive qualifications as a coach and is well respected in rugby coaching circles.  He will oversee the whole coaching structure at the senior club and is looking forward to the many challenges that the position presents.  Further comment here.

 

U18 Pre-season training 2010

 Under 18's training starts Tuesday 27th July, 6.30pm. prompt -8.00 pm. Bring

trainers and rugby boots-every Tuesday and Thursday from now on.

 

 

Balls for Tesco Vouchers

Thanks to all the efforts of members in collecting Tesco vouchers ten Maori Mitre Rugby balls and a gauge pump have been ordered for the Junior section with the 3371 vouchers collected.

Summer Camp, Burnbrae

10,11,12 August 2010

P7, S1 & S2

The camp will run from the 10th to 12th of August. Parents are welcome along at any time during the camp. Coaching will be provided by Ist XV players and Pathway Coaches with year group coaches assisting. The camp will start each day at 8:30 and run until 5:00, during this time participants will, take part in skill sessions, team building exercises and play age group rugby games. Water and fruit will be provided each day. Lunch and additional snacks should be brought. The boys will NOT be allowed out of the West grounds at any time during the day.

In the morning the participants can be dropped off at any time from 8:30, registration will take place at 9:00 and the 1st rugby session will start at 09:30. There will be 2 sessions in the morning  with a half hour rest period in between. These sessions will focus on skill development. Lunch will be from 12:00 to 1:15. The rugby sessions in the afternoon will be from 1:30 to 2:30 focussing on team building, then a break for 30 minutes. The last rugby session will be from 3:00 to 4:30 and this will be all about playing games and putting the skill development into practice. The participants will then complete a warm down and discuss what they have learned that day. During this time there will be fruit and water available for the participants.
The cost of the Camp will be £50 per boy. A deposit cheque of £20, payable to West of Scotland Football Club should be sent along with the completed consent form no later than 30 June 2010 to Ian McDiarmid,16 Craighead Drive, Milngavie, Glasgow,G62 7SD. Each participant will receive a West of Scotland Summer Camp T-shirt and water bottle.The balance is payable by 20 July 2010.

Close Season Bar Hours

For the months of May and June the bar hours will be as follows -

Sunday          4pm - 6pm
Monday         Closed
Tuesday         5pm - 7.15pm
Wednesday    Closed
Thursday        5pm - 10pm
Friday            12noon - 2pm  and 5pm - 7pm
Saturday         12pm - 7pm (extendable)

Note that these hours will be extended for functions or other activities.
